The Atelier

One monthly theme. A story in four chapters, told a little at a time. Six children, four sessions, real materials, and a teacher who knows when to step back.

Meet the teacher

The hands behind the work.

Virginia is a Swiss kindergarten teacher and AMI Montessori-certified educator who has spent years observing what children are capable of when they are trusted with real materials, given the time to use them well, and treated as the young artists they already are.

Her training in fine arts and theatre — at Kalakshetra Foundation in India and Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Ticino — shapes the rhythm of each workshop. A story to enter. A medium to explore. A finished thing to take home.

Credentials
  • Swiss Montessori kindergarten teacher with years of classroom experience.
  • AMI Montessori-certified educator for ages 3–6, trained in the "help me do it myself" approach.
  • Fine arts diploma from Kalakshetra Foundation, India.
  • BA in Theatre Arts from Accademia Teatro Dimitri, Ticino.
The rhythm of an afternoon

Three hours, three movements.

Each session follows the same gentle rhythm — work, pause, story. Across four weeks, these movements carry the children through a single theme and a single, growing project.

first

The Making

Children settle in with real tools and natural materials. The work is theirs — Virginia guides only when needed, only as much as is needed.

second

The Snack

A pause at the shared table. Time to slow down, talk about what's taking shape, and gather energy for the second half.

third

The Story

Virginia closes the day with one chapter of a four-part tale, woven around the month's theme. Each week, another piece — until the story and the project finish together.

Each month, the story and the project grow together — chapter by chapter, layer by layer. By the fourth session, both are complete. The child goes home with the finished piece, and the last chapter of the tale.

An afternoon in motion

Real materials, real focus.

This is what three hours look like in the room — paper strips being woven, scissors passed hand to hand, scraps gathered into something new. Children working alongside one another, each at their own pace, each at their own piece.
